Ms. Newman joined Faulkner Banfield in 2005 after passing the Alaska Bar in 2003 and working in private practice.
Ms. Newman’s practice focuses on estate planning and probate, including taxable and non-taxable estates. She helps clients design and implement comprehensive estate plans and prepares wills, trusts, durable powers of attorney, and health care directives which meet each client’s individual goals.
Ms. Newman’s probate practice addresses all aspects of estate administration, including drafting and filing all necessary pleadings, preparation and review of creditors' claims, and review of tax returns. She regularly advises clients on complex issues, including choices regarding disclaimers and proper tax elections, and issues related to ownership of real property.
Ms. Newman also conducts presentations on estate planning topics to community groups.
Ms. Newman is a member of the Alaska Bar Association’s Probate and Estate Planning Section, the Juneau Bar Association and the Southeast Alaska Estate Planning Council. She also volunteers with the Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault and AWARE, the local domestic violence shelter, and is a member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, where she has been a big sister for four years.
